I was researching which dremmel bit to buy for cleaning out bead holes when I found this link. In short, people were discussing getting ultrasonic cleaners to clean out their beads. Has anyone tried it?

I have an ultrasonic cleaner, but I doubt it would clean bead holes very effectively. Bead release is usually attached to the inside of the hole pretty securely.

I'll try it this afternoon anyways just to see...

I thought it sounded too good to be true, but since cleaning out bead release is a PITA, I thought I'd ask. I really really really want it to work!:-D

Ultrasonic cleaners work well to remove grease and dirt and stuff like that, but I don't know how it will work on bead release. Plus, I've noticed that they work much better on metal items than non-metal items.

Hey they might help to get the crap out of hollow beads.

Do a search on WC in the Tech fourm. There was a few people who tried it with different degrees of success.

I think the end result was that an ultrasonic cleaner helped them to be clean but didn't eliminate the need to really "clean" them by hand.

I found some more threads on the subject. Like Loco said, the answers varied. Some said don't bother, others said they help, but you will still need to ream transparents. Also, the professional models work better than the cheap ones you can get at Freight Harbor (like mine). Cleaning solutions may also have a effect. Soooo.....I'm not getting my hopes up.

That's been my experience. I tried it with the ultrasonic I use when I'm cleaning the jewelry I make. Wasn't too impressed with the results.
