View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Seed bead books
If you had your choice for learning how to make jewelry using seed beads..which book would you buy? Peyote stitch, weaving....something a beginner could open up and actually make something pretty?
Sure would love your advice!!!
Thanks.

Yep, that's the one - hands down !!
Just to follow up - the diagrams are fantastic. They make everything so clear.

I was kind of looking at that one but it has projects that are way beyond jewelry. I guess I am looking for a book that focuses on stitches to be used in a piece of jewelry if that makes sense. I have like 4 in my shopping cart but want one that really stands out for me.
Thanks for the advice though.

Reenie, I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for.
Do you want to make some jewelry just from seed beeds?
Are you looking to make a flat piece or something with some texture?
Do you know which techique you want to explore?
There's a ton of things that you can do with seed beads, including embroidery on something like faux suede. I've mainly found the easiest books to follow focus on just one technique - square stitch, peyote or herringbone or whatever.
Try the Bead and Button website. You can register on there and search through some technique tutorials and some free patterns. At the very least it could help you pin down what you'd like to check out first.

I have been getting bit by the seed embroidery bug... Oh, you could spend a fortune in books!
Have you tried your public library? It's a good way to check out which books you really want without spending a fortune first. I was amazed at what a great selection my library had.

Plus, most libraries have a loan system with other libraries and will get in any book you want. Our library requires a book to be at least one year old for them to loan to another library, but sometimes if it hasn't been checked out much they waive that requirement. I used to spend way too much on books before I discovered I could request them. Now I wait to purchase the book until I've checked it out. System works great for cookbooks too.

If you want beadwork jewellery projects I'd suggest Wilcox-Wells' second book, "The Art and Elegance of Beadweaving".Lovely book.

The first book I ever purchased on flat peyote stitch was Contemporary Bead Work by Diane Fitzgerald. It was really easy to read, and the patterns were easy to follow.
