I miss my torch SO much!!! When DH's tax return comes in I get to use $90 to get a 60lb bulk tank from my welding shop, plus buy a new hose! :D

For those of you who know I use a Bobcat and have all the oxygen I could possibly need....are probably thinking, "Why the HH? Don't you have a kick-butt soft glass set-up??" It does rock with small-medium boro, and soft glass, well....it can be too hot even with the flame turned down. You are not supposed to turn the flame down too much, that isn't good for the torch face.

Here are all the things I can do with my HH that I cannot do well with my Bobcat. (now this is just me, not necessarily anyone else!)

* * * * * * * *

Reds! OH YES Effetre and Vetrofonds reds! I sure miss them!

Sharper more defined silvered ivory stringer, not so melty and spread out

Pixie dust! Miss that too, and I used to make a LOT of beads with it

Bullseye pinks, ooooh ya I can get luscious raspberry colors from frit over BE salmon

Dichroic! It might have a chance!

Certain color swirl canes I make, the swirls are a lot more defined and not so blended together....more "stripey"

Corals don't turn so yellowish and keep more of their pink cast

I will get to play with Satake and not be so frustrated with boiling and whatnot

* * * * * * * *

Okay that's my list, and I'm sure there is more that I can't think of right now. It has been a few years now, so it will all come back to me I'm sure. I just remember one thing though - beads that I loved with the HH turned to s*** and never got to be nice again with the Bobcat.

So it's the week after next then! I'm ordering the tank Monday! \\:D/

The HH does have its advantages! I used to make wonderful millifiori beads where they all spread at the same rate. And the dichroic never scummed or burned out on me either.

That's something I've never even tried once! In all this time I have never even used a murrini. I had a little bag sent to me once as a RAOGK but it's buried somewhere.

One of my favorite beads to make with pixie dust was just small spacers with a base of black and hi-light blue. It made a sparkly dark steel blue, soooo pretty and they sold like crazy on ebay. ;)

I love dichroic glass much too much to upgrade from my hothead.

I do dicroic on my minor. Is there a difference?

If you are keeping the color I wouldn't worry. I just had a way of turning hot pink/teal dichroic to greyish white scum with the Bobcat, every time.

Pat Frantz uses a Minor I believe, and she has a video on dichroic beads where she is using that torch. I've been wondering if I should "downgrade" to a Minor and a 5lpm concentrator, and maybe I wouldn't have so many problems?? I have both a generator and a old 5lpm concentrator.
