Hello,
I have been practicing sculptured roses as per Maureen Kennedy's tutorial....thank you Maureen...
I need to know - what makes a great sculptured rose? any tips to help me push my roses from blobby roses to great roses?
I have an idea for a juried exhibition - using a rose made on a barrell bead into a long stem single rose with sterling silver leaves and stem....this exhibit tours our province and there are awards too....they have a judge from outside our province and one from the province and they pick 35 art pieces from the work submitted...the judges won't know who's work is who's as none of the items are marked...then they give awards for glass, metal work, pottery, fiber, etc....last year was the first year a lampworker had a bead necklace in the show....she did a bunch of bumpy beads with tons of dots on each bead...then she made two sterling silver bumpy beads and sterling clasp....the sterling bumpy beads were amazing....
so what tips can you give me to help me fine tune my roses? good color combinations? how to make my petals more real? How to make the rose look amazing...what should I concentrate on?
I think I have the basics but now I am stuck on making it more artistic....
thanks, Shauna
