View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Am I the only one out there with this generator? - Airsep AS-12A

Well, I bought it two years ago, and took almost a year before I hooked it up. (I know, I know, don't ask! )

It's expensive - $2400, and the specs on it is that it's the high pressure model (not the AS-12), and it's max is 18psi. I'm not sure what volume of oxygen it puts out though. The little flowmeter ball reads at 15-18 max), so is that LPM??

I'm going to contact the tech team in NY, but before I do that, I wanted to see if anyone here had some answers for me. ;) I don't really understand all the tech info on specs in the handbook, it's confusing. I only understand the psi part. I'm becoming curious to know what this machine's capacity is because I want to upgrade to a hotter boro torch like the Cheetah, and without having to resort to tanks if I don't have to. My generator supposedly can run two smaller torches simutaneously.

I am kicking myself now, because I wish I would have waited to upgrade. Ever since these new generators that are coming out which are much less expensive! Plus, that new biggie torch machine (Unlimited Oxygen P-30, is that it??) that's coming out soon would put mine to shame!

Lisa, I don't know anything about that concentrator, but it sounds like it would be just fine for the Cheetah if it puts out 18psi.

Whatever the flowmeter shows is the LPM. The PSI would be provided in the spec sheet. I just had a lengthy conversation with the guys at my local repair unit about the same thing (not your model, though). Sounds like your machine does up to 18LPM at 18psi.

O2 scf/hr to lph is "about" 28.38
Your machine is 12 scf/hr x 28.38 = 340.56 lph = 5.68 lpm

Is it a dual 12A with a 30 gal holding tank under it? Do you have a picture?

Either way, you have one very solid machine. It will run any small torch better than most concentrators in the market. Try and find a Cheatah to hook up to it. I'm SURE it will run it, but I'm not sure at what percent of the torches power.

more info.
The AS-12A is listed at 12cfs/hr at 15 psi.
The DAS-12A is listed at 24cfs/hr at 18psi.
If you have a picture, I can tell you which one you have.

I checked with the PDF specs on their website, but they show a picture and specs on the dual model - I would LOVE to have that one!! Unless I misread that, I don't know, lol! This is a single unit model like the AS-12, but the higher pressure one, the 12A, and they told me it has 15psi but can be set to run as high as 18psi.

I have a small holding tank that they sold me with it. I would love to get the 30gal one of these days. This little tank helps regulate the oxygen flow quite well, because before, the torch would "breathe" with each cycle, and that drove me nuts! I'm thinking that for a larger torch, I may end up needing a larger holding tank.

I still want to get the Cheetah, but if it turns out that it needs more 'oomph' than the Airsep can provide, I'll add a concentrator in tandem to increase the o2 volume, if that will work. (I'll check around on that before I jump the gun, lol!) A lot of people have told me that the oxygen pressure should be enough for this torch, I'm just not sure about the volume.
