812408 Hollow Bead Workshop (http://www.frantzartglass.com/go.asp?ic=812408) by Antonio Aponté on April 08, 2006; 11am to 2pm. Join Antonio in this demonstration intended to assist those who wish to expand their basic lampwork beadmaking skills as well as for curious beginners who want to watch some advanced beadmaking in action. Antonio will create several hollow beads live and will attempt to speak at the same time! (Let's hope that is possible!) In a lecture and demonstration format Antonio Aponté will discuss: Materials used to create large mandrel-wound hollow beads (the hand tools necessary, type of torch, and glass needed); How to evenly wind glass onto the mandrel; How to keep the hollow sphere from collapsing or becoming one-sided; Tricks to keeping the bead rounded; Salvaging a misaligned hollow bead; Proper angles at which to decorate the hollow sphere without damaging it; Flame alteration and dynamics of bead placement within the flame; Pulling a fine stringer while working on the bead; Adding a fine stringer to the hollow; Making a bead within a bead; Making disc beads; and Making very large beads on the mandrel.
The cost for this 3 hour workshop is still just $50. It will be held on April 8th from 11 am - 2 pm. Call 1-800-839-6712 for early registration or you may also register at the door.
Please note: This workshop is not a "hands on" class. Participants will be able to watch the demonstrations, take notes and ask questions. Attendees must bring their own eye protection.
