CiM Hades Black

I thought I posted this thread already, a while back, but haven't found it so I am trying again...

I have quite a bit of Hades and have discovered that it "webs" when used finely. Is that just me or is that a regular characteristic? I didn't want a webbing glas when I bought it, because I already have Dense Black. so here I am. Is there a way to prevent it?

It's not you. It does web. I don't think it webs as much as Intense black, and if you work it cooler, it doesn't web, at least for me.

I've read CiM Tuxedo doesn't web as readily as Hades, but I haven't given it a workout to test that for myself yet.

I use Tuxedo my self i love that black, it's very stable and not a purple black!. And Hades will go metalic on you so it really is a cool black when reduced.

Yes Hades webs but not quite as much as Effetre intense black. There is an artist on this forum who does the most incredible reduction techniques with it - absolutely gorgeous. It's a great glass but I don't always like it under certain circumstances. It tends to 'swallow' anything that's layered on top of it. If you know what to expect, you can get some cool techniques but if you're not prepared for that, it can be quite annoying.

Tuxedo is much better for not webbing. Hades doesn't web with everything. It doesn't web on raku. I don't why. It's wonderful with silver and reduced. I made a goddess out of it, wrapped her in silver foil and then reduced it. She was covered with tiny silver dots that had a rainbow on them. It loves silver glass, too.

Thanks for the tips all. I guess when I have a little more time I wil play with the Hades...I have some Tux, so i will use it where I don't want webbing!! Kevan...I'd love to see a pic of that Goddess!!:cool:

BTW, intense black doesn't web on certain colors. On Effetre opalinos, and on certain reds. I super heated the bead, and could not get it to web at all.
