I use the ends off the frozen orange juice (or any kind of juice) containers. You get two, and they are nice and shallow and hold quite a bit of frit. Only downside is you can't just slosh the bead around too much or it will make a mess.

Interesting idea! I've got three round metal paint palettes full of frit. Works like a charm... until you bump the tray. Klutzy people probably should find another solution.

I use small rectangular footed porcelain sauce dishes - one side is deeper and longer, but the "foot" of the dish is much smaller and more shallow. I choose which side to fill with frit depending on what size and shape of bead I'm working. They have their drawbacks, but work fine for me most of the time and I got them for a dollar each at an import store.

Thanks for the mini sauce boat tip. I was at Target tonight so I had a chance to check 'em out. They look like they'll work great, so I bought a set. Thanks!

I started out using those too! Now, I buy the Great Value (Walmart brand) of cinnamon rolls and use the metal piece that separates the frosting from the rolls. They are a bit deeper than the juice ends and they hold more frit ;)

My Target finally re-stocked them, and I bought them all!
PM me if you want any, I have plenty!

I haven't worked with frit alot yet but so far i love it. I have been using a measuring teaspoon and it works pretty good since i can then pour it back into the container easily. I always leave it so the handle is free to be able to grab it though.

I recommended to a friend that she use a couple of spoon rests to hold her frit. I think they are called spoon rests.....they sit on the stove and keep the goopy mess from spatulas and spoons from covering the stove20494 not this fancy though
seems to work well for her and she dumps her leftover frit back into plastic jars.

Hi Renee, Can you attach a picture of the sause boats because I'm dying of curiousity? I used a metal scoop which works alright, but the size of it makes it hard if you only have a little frit. I love all the suggestions. Barbie

I was gonna ask for a pic too. At leasst next time I am in Target I'll know what I am looking for...

PS- I use measuring spoons or my marble mold for frit but am always looking for something new.

I like to use ice cream scoops for frit trays. You can lift it right up to your bead, easily put the frit back into a jar or bag, and they're only $1-$2.

If you want to just e-mail me the pic at SETinGlass@aol.com and I will be happy to fix the size adn load it on LE for you.

I use the little tins for muffins you can buy individual ones at Bed Bath and Beyond for about .29 each for the smallest size and they go up in price from there. I love them cause I can stack one on top of another and never have to pour my frits back into a containor.

love the muffin tin idea...I have seen people use black powder reloading horns....kinda spendy...But they dump a pre measured amount of frit each time, great for inside work

Here is a pic of the frit trays mentioned in the first post. I just resized them for rverk47 so they would load onto LE.
