Hi all,
I have been searching, and I know it's probably somewhere around here...but can't find an annealing schedule for boro. I have a chili pepper kiln with an orton controller. Can someone please tell me what to program my kiln at for the boro? Oh yeah...I'm a little "chili pepper kiln" illiterate right now....so, if you could take me through it step by step.....it would be a great help!O:)

Okay, let's see if i can run you through my program. Now, you have to stand on one leg and hop for this to work... it's my secret boro color poping ritual. ;)
Hit enter (far left key). This should bring up a screen that asks what program you want. Not sure how many there are, but there are at least 4 on mine. Select whick one you want with the up or down arrow keys. Hit enter and it will take you to a screen that asks how many segment you wan this program to have. Choose 2. Hit enter. The next screen is the rate to the target temp. Choose 9999. hit enter. The next screen is to set the target temp. Start with 1075... you can adjust higher or lower from this point, but it's a good start. hit enter. The next screen asks how long you want it to remain there. i set mine for 8 hours. hit enter. Now you are to the rate to next temp screen on the second segment of this program. Set it to 60. hit enter. Next is the target temp... set it to 960. hit enter. This next one is soak time again. Set it for 30. hit enter and it should say "ready" in kiln language. Hit enter one more time and it will kick on. You are done. Work as long as you want... about an hour or so after the last piece goes in, I hit the middle button. The kiln will review the segment it's on and then go to some kiln language word. While it is saying this word, hit enter to skip the rest of that segment. It will automatically forget about the rest of the soak time and go right into the slow ramp down. ;)
This is the simplest program I use. It can be adjusted from here a million ways to strike color or adjust for size. I would read everything you can on annealing. Truly understand what you are trying to accomplish and you'll be golden.
Smiley - did you ever find out what's up with the NS annealing schedule?
