Hey, can we get a bulk buy going? Maybe:)
We could do a bulk buy, sure, if there a discount for larger quantities?
I could find the pricing on eBay - 6 or $7 for 2 oz. - but I didn't see anything about it on that page.
I sure would like to try some Magic Mirror, Carribean Coral and Silver Whatever frit.

I would love for a bulk buy on momka's glass and frit if someone would be willing I love her glass and they are the bestest folks I wish I could order from them more often. Id like to see some of their newer colors too though seems like they were not on their web site when I checked last ;(

I'm holding all the frit hostage until I can see some pics of what you're making with it. 8-)
Isn't that like a chicken/egg paradox?
In the meantime, I guess I could give a couple pictures of what I've made with NS and GA frit...
I can't find my camera battery charger though, so I don't have any super-new pictures.

I use frit for several techniques involving blowing and several other solid techniques involving clear, so frit is critical!!
An exciting frit selection is inspiring, too, so thanks for making this Momka stuff available. The colors with silver are my favorites, and she makes some good ones.

Hi Carrie and Kay......glad to see those torches are working overtime, and beautiful work I might add!
Kay, I was looking in the boro gallery thread - love those oranges (all of them actually), and Juln I love those disks!
The frit situation:
Thank you for the interest in Momka's frit. I'm thrilled to be able to make it, and it has been so popular that I'm having a hard time keeping many colors in stock.
Right now I am backlogged with soft glass orders so please bear with me as I get those done. Currently I have all the avaiable Momka's listed on Ebay for inventory ease. With 40+ Momka colors and 3 - 4 sizes each, you can imagine the packaging/inventory tracking issues. I also strive to produce a very clean and uniform grit size which is time consuming. The big glass makers have machines the size of a room to make their frit, and I'm just a small operation for now. Production will ramp up significantly at the end of August as I work out some bugs with my machinery and I get more free time.
I'll post a note here when I have the new Momka colors ready (very soon!). I'm anxious to grind up some of that Purple Thunder, and more Silver Tears for sure.
Regards,
Cathy

Thanks for the heads-up on this frit, Kay!:-)
I just got some of the Eplanet size 2 frit yesterday in the mail. These are my test beads with them, using Momka's Magic Mirror, Caribbean Coral, and Blue Lightning (in both rod and frit form). The frits are really clean, not full of powder, and I love them!! They are much nicer than commercially available frits--because they are made in small batches by hand. Don't change a thing, Cathy!!

Wow - those beads are way funky. Carnival-esque.
Ok Cathy.
Here is some made with the Purple Haze frit. I think I showed somewhere before but perhaps I didn't say what it was.. And I am loving the effects of this.. the beautiful wisps of iridescent blues
and here is the Charlie Brown base with Purple Haze..

What's high on my wish list for Momka frit is this:
I'd like to be able to buy (hopefully at a slightly discounted rate) a frit "sampler" pack. ALL the Momka's frits - in two sample pack sizes - 2 oz packs and 4 oz packs. What are the chances of that happening? Who do I have to sleep with?

I'm in on the sampler packs, too! 3-some anyone? :p

I just read my post and I want to clarify what I meant. What I want (is the boobs of a 16 year old) is to have two choices of Momka's sampler frits.
There would be two sampler box choices -
The SMALL one, containing EVERY color of frit in 2 oz containers
The LARGE one, containing EVERY color of frit in 4 oz containers.
Reason is, I'm more inclined to go with the larger one, but many others will not want to part with that much $$$ and will probably go with the smaller containers.
I would want all the frit to be the largest size available (because it's easy to crush the frit to make it smaller, but NOT so easy to put it back together again - and the larger frit is more user friendly for newbies).
There - that's a list of my demands. I want the sampler packs (and the boobs of a 16 year old) available in the next 72 hours or I will start killing beads. I am a desperate woman. :flirt:
Wait now... please clarify, do you want your boobs to be like the boos of a 16 year old, or do you want a 16 year old to make her boobs available to you?

Hey - I'm up for a boob-transplant if one (two) becomes available. I'm just afraid that I'll be involved in some horrible hospital mixup and instead of receiving the boobs of a 16 year old, I'll get the dyslexic surgeon, and end up with 61 year old gazongas that resemble tennis balls in gym socks.
Pass -
I'll stick to the wonder bra for now.
Wait now... please clarify, do you want your boobs to be like the boos of a 16 year old, or do you want a 16 year old to make her boobs available to you?

Anyway, I am in on the fritthing, how much would it cost, and do we have someone organizing it already?

Hi all,
I wanted to share a picture of this glass with the Boro-babes out there (and of course the Boro-dudes). It looks absolutely fabulous, and has lots of silver in it. I can't wait to grind it into frit - it will give a nice varigated look with silver streaks...almost like Kronos.

Yes, you definitely would Kay - Silver Dance. I've gotten some really interesting effects from this one. I'll be grinding up seven colors next week including Purple Thunder.

I got those!!! And they look like poop whenever I make beads:(
I bought those after LAG made me but I have no idea how to work them, any tips?
Is there anywhere else to buy Momka's frit? I have been stalking eplanet for months and they never seem to have any.
Thanks!
Donna

I'm pretty sure that's the only place I've seen it and I suspect they make their own, otherwise I'd like to think Momka herself would sell it given the amount of scrap they probably wind up with.
You could always buy a few rods and make your own. Make a fancy frit crusher out of metal piping, or for just the occasional use find a burlap sack and a hammer and go to town.

I want some momka's also. Eplanet finally responded and said they are on vacation for at least another week, but I have been stalking that place for at least 6 months and they never seem to have any when I look.
I would make my own, but I am paranoid about the small glass bits and breathing them in and don't really have time to make it anyway.
A little birdie told me that there is going to be someone else selling momka's frit starting in May, but I don't want to say who just yet as they haven't made an official announcement yet. Yay!!

I just went to the eplanet site and it appears that they have Momka's frit in stock.:biggrin::biggrin:
can you post a link to this site?
I think I was up at Momka's in Nov for a Kobuki class, right around the time stormy weather and silver dance came out, and she had some experimental glass for sale. I bought a pound of expermental2 and just tried it yesterday. granted I'm a little slow in my playing with glass, but what I thought was a fairly boring multi rod is amazing. I will have to send her a piece and get some more.
