Wow, this site is addicting, especially to we who are fairly new to this.
I love the raku beads!! How are they made? Anyone who can help with some information?

Hi!
Raku is a nickname for Iris gold glass (R108???). COE is 96. It comes in frit form, various sizes and in cane form too. It's a reactive glass which means it will react to both temperature change and oxygen/propane levels. Its fun to work with once you get the hang of it. There are several suppliers out there that carry it. I go to valcox.com. Val usually keeps it in stock.
Hope this helps. BTW, welcome to LE!!! You're right, this place is addicting, even for us old timers.

Val Cox -valcox.com - has the raku jitterbug that most will swear by- a great place for lots of frits!
I have sample packs to large amounts on ebay priced by the ounce right now also- here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8268334100&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1)
a search for "raku frit" on ebay will also bring up lots of others.
The other "official" name for this is R-108 - Iris Orange
enjoy!
-edited to add i got beat to the valcox.com recommendation :-)

You need to click on user CP ( control Panel) and then edit till your heart's content. It's up just above post reply on the top of the page.

You're welcome. I found raku frit at ggglass.com. She has a bunch of different blends. They look pretty, I can't wait to get mine!
