Great tutorial! Do you have any recommendations for silver glass to use in the murrini?

Janel Dudley

Thank you Lori!

I tend to stick with reduction glass due to my lacking of making striking glass strike, I tend to use Oxblood (TAG) for the very center cause it just makes the silver colors pop, if you have any JD MIX (TAG) stashed away (they don't make it anymore) try that, I'm trying to remember recipes but having a hard time.

Oh! If you reduce Transcendental, (a striking color) when mixed with other silver glass it can make a cool reddish brown color, there's a necklace I made for myself awhile back and the transcendental had the neatest effect, it had such a reflective finish.

So far I use a lot of TAG TAG TAG, lol, btw love you and Kims murrini's, you ladies make the best ones!

Thank you so much Janel! I will have to give some of the TAG reduction glasses a try. And thank you so much for the sweet words about our murrini.

Great beads. Can I ask if you made your murrini or did you get it from some beadmaker. I'd love to find them to try this out. I suck at murrini ;-)

The last issue of Flow Magazine had a fantastic tut on making eyes, from making the iris to the finished eye. It was called Dragon's Eye by Christian Arnold (wickedglass). There is a thread on it in the Boro Room

It's not coming up for me...I know it's an old thread, but does anyone have the current link? Thanks!

Bretta, I took it offline awhile back. I know this may be a bitch-ass thing to do but I have my reasons. I may change my mind and decide to put it back online in the future. Please accept my apologies.

Yes bummer... I have met Janelle and she is far from a bitch, so I know if she felt the need to pull her tutorial there was a good reason. Hugs to you Janelle!

Aw thanks Donna, hugging you back!

Just in case.... Roger Child has an awesome tutorial on eyes, http://www.etsy.com/listing/97013627/lampworking-tutorial-how-to-make-boro and I've heard that Pyper has a great one as well http://www.pipyr.com/eyecane.html

That's cool...I understand that things happen! Thanks for letting me know.

The fact that you shared it in the first place negates your comment about yourself...that was an entirely generous thing to do. I hope you have received GOOD from it for your sweet sharing spirit :)

It looks like a very cool tute and I LOVE what you have made...wonderful!
