I'm a little on the slow side sometimes, but I just discovered the JOY of SIS...wow! Do any other colors or types of glass have the same type of reactions? Different reactions?

Thanks much!
Julie

many colors have reactions ... not all like Ivory and silver! So many I wouldn't know where to start telling you! It's one of the thing I love about glass!

Try blues with yellows ...often a reaction there. Blues and ivory of course ... some greens and ivory (sometimes so intense to be not nice)

Copper green and some colors have wonderful effects too - try with Lauscha cocoa for one of my favorites ...

A couple of years ago I held a Reaction exchange (two of them actually) and everyone was generous enough to share their favorite - a CD was made of the results (smile).

Hi Julie -
If you have not purchased Corina Tettinger's book, "Passing the Flame," you really should save your pennies and get it. She describes and shows beautiful pictures of lots of glass colors that react and the things you can do with the reaction. The book itself is worth more than 100 separate tutorials. Really. I promise you will not be sorry.

Lisa, I do have her book...I'll have to relook through it. I also learned a TON about some reactions from Think Pink by Sara Hornik...love that tutorial!

I guess what I'm wondering more is if you take silver foil (or whatever that stuff is) and put it on glass other than ivory if you get similiar effects.

Sadie, I checked out your etsy site and I just may have to get the 2008 and 2007 CD's when I get paid! They look very enticing!

Thx, julie

You can put silver leaf or foil on all sorts of glass and get interesting reactions, but are you are talking about making a stringer out of it and using it that way?

Jim Smircich used to have a great tutorial on his website using Anise white and silver foil/leaf. It doesn't seem to be there anymore.

PS Here's a thread about making silvered stringers:

The joy of glass is discovering all the cool things it can do. When I'm at a low creative ebb I like to play. That's when I find new combinations. You can make silvered stringers of pretty much any color and then apply them to almost any color for almost infinite reactions.

Of course silvered ivory is the standard because of it's unique properties. Just playing with that on different surfaces is endlessly fascinating. Silvered coral is another fun one. Coral by itself causes interesting reactions on many glasses. Silvered EDP (Effetre purple #254) is another interesting one to try. Even silvered clear is cool.

Have fun! :D
