After about six months of working with my HH, I am ready to upgrade. I'm torn between a Mini CC, a Minor and a Bobcat. I want something that I won't outgrow too soon, but my major consideration right now is the noise factor. I am "blessed" with tinnitus and the HH makes my ears ring like crazy! A torch with a body that stays cool would be a good thing too. I don't need anymore trips to the ER!

Currently I'm only working with Moretti but am interested in trying boro in the not too distant future. I don't see myself ever making anything larger than a marble so I'll never need a really large torch.

When I figure out what torch I'm going to buy, then I'll buy an oxygen concentrator that will be compatible with the torch. I'm hoping to get in on the bulk buy from Oxygen Plus but that will require me to make a decision-something I'm notoriously bad at!

I'm seriously leaning towards the Bobcat but before I commit I want to know what other people think of these three torches.

If you're still with me.....HELP!! Tell me which torch(es) you've used and why you did or did not like them.

Better yet, just tell me which one to buy and put me out of this agonizing-over-the-decision agony, LOL!

Karen,
There are several threads in the "Torch Room" (sub-room of Tips and Questions") that discuss the differences between these torches. They might help you decide. I have a Piranha, so I'm no help!

I am partial to Piranhas and Minis, but I can say one thing unreservedly; any of the torches you mentioned will serve you well and you will LOVE any of them. They're all solid little workhorses!

Judi,

I've been in the Tips and Questions room a hundred times and I NEVER saw that-I'm such a doofus!

Thanks for your help-I'm on my way to check this out right now.

Thanks for your response Kalera. Maybe I'll get all three and set up my own little sweatshop out in my sunroom, LOL! After all, isn't that why God gave us kids?

bobcat is a great lil torch! gets VERY hot and has a nice variety of flame...however if you want to do boro you really need 2 concentrators or step up to a larger 10LPM model or 20lpm model.

I love my Bobcat. I chose it out of the three(mini cc, bobcat or minor) just because I thought it was the most cool looking...all other things being equal.

That was my mother's way of thinking. She promised I would get to use my daughter as a slave when I grew up.

I forgot to have kids..8-[

If I were to get the larger model of concentrator now instead of the one I'm thinking of, would it be too much for working with Moretti?

Also, is the Bobcat a quiet torch? To be truthful, if I had to settle for only one of the features I want, that would be the one that's most important-a torch that won't cause me to become any more deaf!

Thanks for your help!

Well, you better get with the program-you're making those of who had kids so we wouldn't have to get up and change the channel on the TV look bad!

Wow, THAT comment doesn't show my age!

What about a Betta?

A Betta would do everyting I would want, but it's a little too pricey for me right now. Maybe if I ever get good enough to try to sell something I'll be able to justify another upgrade...

You don't really need a Betta anyway unless you're running on natural gas... it's a lot like a Piranha but made for low pressures, is my understanding. If you're running on propane, you may just as well save some money and get a Piranha!

GTT torches are quiet - my Lynx is noticably quieter than my Minor was.

My Bobcat is very quiet! I can actual listen to music or talk if I want ( had a HH before).
I am so far behind- my kids are grown and moved out( Yeah!!) so I have lost all the slaves now I have to use DH as my cheap laborer!

Hi Sandra-thanks for responding. It's starting to look like I'll be getting a Bobcat!

My son should be getting ready to move out, but he's an English major. I think he'll be living at home for the rest of his life, LOL! That translates to slave-labor for life!
