Anyone use battery operated lights at outdoor shows with no electric? I do know about the marine batteries and generators, but to be honest, I do not have room for one more large item in my vehicle...

I just saw battery operated LED strip lights at my local ALDI's, maybe something like that?

I use 4 12 volt 21led lights and a sealed 12 volt /4.5 amp lead acid battery. They do not give out a lot of light but do add a little sparkle and highlight my work as I have them clamped to my displays! Sorry I do not have any photos at the moment, but the lights were bought on ebay and they are car/fog lights.

Cheers

Marine batteries are a major PITA!! Unless of course you want to use them for tent weights too, lol. I spent countless hours trying to figure out the best way to do it and finally determined that daylight was just fine.

I've been wanting to try a portable power source, like this (http://www.amazon.com/Xantrex-XPower-Powerpack-Portable-Backup/dp/B000157TP8/ref=sr_1_17?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1284383293&sr=1-17):
there are several like this, all around $300 or less, which may or may not be what I need. I only use fluorescent bulbs, which draw very little wattage, but I don't want to spend the $$ unless someone can tell me it works...none of my shows will allow me to use a gas powered generator, but on a cloudy day, it would be SOO great to have some lights on..

anyone use this sort of thing?

Lots of possibilities here....

Remember anything that runs on batteries has to be charged to be effective, you forget to charge battery before show, its going to be a "dark" show....

Though expensive and you are not particularly interested but the Honda EU2000 Generators are little, quiet and easy to handle...

Thanks everyone. I know about the honda generators, I have a lot of camper folks in my family and they are awesome because you can run them all night for the air because they are so quiet. Most campgrounds make you turn off generators by midnight. The strip led lights would not work, as I am looking for something to put "spotlights" on my jewelry.
