I can't believe it. My HH's not hot, but my Chili Pepper is out of control!!! Two days ago, I noticed it started ramping down when I thought I had about 3 hrs left before they started soaking. Yesterday I made an awesome bead (at least I thought it was gonna be!) and because my HH got too cool I garaged it in the CP to give my torch time to cool down. When I came back an hour later (I thought it still had about 3 hours left) the controller said 1340! Yikes! I peeked in the little door and ooooh, my bead had slumped down on the floor of the kiln.
Can anyone give me any ideas about what to do now? I'm afraid to fire it up again for fear of having a barn burning that I didn't plan. Now what?

PS on a happier note, I ordered a minor torch on ebay so now all I have to do is tackle the oxycon thing. (here we go again....) lol

Have you checked your programing?
How long have you had the kiln?

I've had the kiln for 2 weeks and have been using it every day almost. It was working perfectly. Sarah

Check your programming and call Jen-Ken. Sounds like something is stuck.

If controller programming is correct, maybe the "RELAY" which turns on/off electricity to elements is stuck. The relay is actually a electrical switch that is operated by the digital controller... Or you may have bad connection between thermocouple and controller and it is giving false information to controller and controller is compensating by keeping heat elements on to long.

Update: Just wanted ya'll to know that I have been in contact with Jen-Ken and with Orton controller and they all have been very helpful. Orton is shipping me a new controller (it went out today). Very nice folks to do business with.
