I can't wait. I'm leaving this coming Wednesday for Flametree Glass for a class with John Kobuki and then in another six weeks I'll be in Asheville. It's going to be a fun couple of months. I can hardly wait to see everyone again. I've seen several class schedules lately and it looks like both Marjorie and Terri are going to be busy ladies this year. They seem to be teaching in all the fun schools. I guess my point is that I really appreciate them taking time to organize both Fire on the Mountain and Hot Times for us to learn while we are at the same time having lots of fun. Thanks a lot to you both.

Hi Glenda - you are more than welcome. We love hosting Hot Time and Fire on the Mountain and wouldn't trade those weekends for anything! I know that Carol, Angie and Melanie spent a good part of last weekend working on their demo plans for FOTM and I think everyone is going to love what they are planning.

Terry and I are both very busy this year, but it's all good stuff so it won't feel like work. We now have the final details for the October retreat in Ireland - if anyone wants to know more, please get in touch with one of us - there is space for eight participants.

If you guys haven't checked out the Ireland info for this fall, please do! Marjorie, Margo and I will be there this spring for a couple of weeks then we're returning in October to host a retreat that promises to be a fantastic adventure. We'd love to have some of our regulars along.

Ok , being a newbie to this event, i am checking here and going OMG trade beads , yea that makes sense, OK , but I was checking to see whats up re hotels, sharing, rides, etc, Am feeling like I should be on an email list of who is going, coming events etc but got nothing, Can someone help me out? thanks.got in, paid, made plane reservations, nothing else yet.:waving:[-(:confused:

Hi kiss my glass you will love Springfire on the Mounytain. Some of us stay at SleepInn west on old haywood rd. that is less than 10 minutes from A Touch of Glass. There is always someone that can give you a ride. This is a very relaxed group and you will have a lot of fun. Marjorie will Probaly be sending out more information soon. We'll have a very special commemorative t-shirt for this year's FOTM that includes a tip o'the hat to our talented and lovely demonstrators. The design is being tweaked right now and will be sent out to everyone on the list as soon as it's done. We'll be taking orders in advance and delivering them to Asheville. Details soon!

If anyone ends up having a problem finding a place to stay at the last minute, they are welcome to stay at my house, which is about 45 minutes away in Tryon, NC. I will be driving up and back and am willing to share the ride... it is easier to stay awake when chatting with others in the car. It looks like Beth Walter is staying with me Friday and Saturday night, and I have room for one more. I am getting very excited. Fire on the Mountain is getting closer, but all the posts have stopped. I guess everyone is getting ready. I have a question, would anyone prefer some of my etched bead caps for trade instead of beads? I have some custom designs I am going to etch this week, I will be doing them in brass and copper in two different finished diameters (so they can be stacked up) . I will patina the recessed design, then dome and polish them in a tumbler. I will make these for the 3/16" mandrel beads that we will be making in the workshop. I can also make some aluminum caps from a sheet I rolled a pattern into, but the aluminum doesn't take a liver of sulfur patina, and remains bright. If you have any ways to color aluminum, I would love to learn the method.

Julie, I'd say that you'd likely have lots of people interested! Your work sounds very interesting. Nothing says it has to be beads...we have people who bring other kinds of jewelry-related work, tools, supplies, etc. and it's always a happening place for selling/trading.

Considering all the stuff I need to pack, I'd better get started on that pretty soon, too. I had a nightmare last week that I got to Asheville and realized I'd packed everything, then drove off without loading it in the car! :lol:

Just checked the 10 day weather forecast for Asheville. As of next Thursday - goodbye nice warm weather. Forecast is for highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. It is supposed to be sunny most of the time so we'll be just fine but some layers might be a good idea!

I have made bead caps for the 3/16" mandrel beads in copper and brass. Does anyone want some other sizes? I can also make standard small ones for wire wrapped or strung beads, or larger holes for 1/14" tubing. Tell me what you need asap. Wednesday night is the last night I can work on them. Julie

What a wonderful weekend! Angie, Mel and Carol really did an amazing job. I can't wait to order all that metal cutting and pounding stuff!
