View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Care and feeding of regulators
How do you shelter your regulators from the elements? Somebody told me it was ok to leave them exposed to the elements, but we had a bunch of rain last week and I was wondering. Do you take them off and store them inside (please say no...what a pain.)
Good question! I'll be interested to see what other people do. I put a gallon-size freezer bag over the regulator and secure it with an elastic band (like a rubber band, but made for hair).

For the most part regulators are pretty rugged.... I have seen them exposed to wind, rain and freezing temperatures and other than a bit if discoloration on outside surface (tarnish) then work just fine.... If you feel the need for protection, something as simple as a plastic bucket turned up side down over tank valve and regulator will be sufficient.... Remember these are industrial tools and designed to work all day every day is the most adverse conditions man and elements can throw at them...

Thanks Dale. It's nice to have that confirmed by someone who knows! Judi - I was using a plastic bag then I realized how much condensation was building up inside the bag.
