I was wondering if the adventurine laced glasses tend to not be compatible when encased or if they need to go straight into the kiln instead of a cooling blanket? I haven't had trouble with encased BE in the past so this drove me nuts  .

I got them glowing red before I put them in the cooling blanket (no kiln just yet). They seemed to crack right against the mandrel. They are also about 1 1/4" by 1" (so let me know if they are just to big, without the kiln). They are a white base covered with adventurines and marine sparkle, then encased in crystal clear. Only one has encased cz's in it, the others are just bubbles. Thanks in advance for any advice :waving: !

Hmmm, I've had trouble encasing sparkling celery before, so I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone else has something more authoritative on the subject to post.

The cracks you are showing in the photos are typical of the cracks generated by thermal shock. I suggest putting your beads right into the kiln. I am guessing they are too big to be cooled in a blanket. Just my opinion.

Aventurine glass is more prone to thermal shocking in my experience. It's also harder to encase with cracking. I would put the beads directly into the kiln.

Wow, you guys thanks for the super fast replies  !

I am doing the happy dance while I decide which kiln to buy! So until then my moon beads will have to wait (I don't want to waste anymore odd lot colors).

Thanks a bunch....now to decide on a kiln!
