View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : My New/Old Place
What started out as a shed/studio in the back yard has grown by leaps and bounds! I'm working on fixing up an old building in historic Madison, Alabama. So far, we have mostly cleaned, upgraded the lighting, and moved in tons of stuff. I hope to start painting sometime next week. The ventilation guy is supposed to be here this week. Once that's started I'll feel like it's really happening!
You can view the progress on my a simple online journal (I have grand plans to update the site once a week :-\" ) at my website (http://www.halefireglass.com).
Thanks for looking!

WOOOHOOOO!!!!
Party at Terry's! I am so excited about taking classes there and hanging out. You just try to kick me out, Missy!
The place is amazing and I'm all about helping to paint. You just let me know when and supply the alcohol. I'll paint till my arms fall off. (Which probably won't be long since I'm such a weenie. Gonna start eating my Wheaties tomorrow, I promise!)
I'm so happy for you Terry.
Love ya!
Bek
So exiting, Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Oh wow....I looked at your pics and that space looks awesome! Congratulations, Terry!

Thanks, everyone! It's a very fun location despite being a major project. I hope we can be open in about a month, maybe sooner, but I'm trying to concentrate on doing things right instead of rushing to meet a deadline.
When we do get the place ready, we'll have a big party and anyone who can get here will be invited. If you're reading this post, that means you! :waving:
Bek, you know you'll be welcome at any time! I'll save the baseboards for you to paint. That way when your arms have fallen off and you're too drunk to stand up you can still work ;) !

LOL Hmmm...I wonder if she can sling paint like she slings hot glass?
I hope you can make it over. I'd love to have you there!!!!!
That is a really neat space. I love the tin ceilings and the wraparound balcony. It looks like an old general store. Do you know the space's history? Good on you for rehabbing an old building. I love to hear/see old buildings getting a new lease on life. (And that rug is precious! love it!)

God/dess, I hope not!!! I feel fortunate to have spent the week sitting next to her and come away unscathed (at least from hot glass!).

The building has the coolest ambience about it. (Although my 13 year old heard me say that the other day and he said, "Is that what you call that smell? ) It used to be the mercantile building. I'm sure I can get the complete history on it pretty easily and will probably post it on my website when I get a proper one created. The real estate office next door has some old photos of the place with horses tied up out front. I'm going to try to get some copies to have in my place.
BTW, I LOVE Chicago! I have a dear friend who owns two art galleries there... downtown and in Geneva. It's called One. Drop by and say hi to Scott!

Only because you have cat-like reflexes! I did notice a goose egg on your forehead from banging it against the table a few times, though. ](*,)

All kidding aside I am very envious of that wonderful space ya got going there. Best wishes and I hope to see it in person if I ever get back to AL.

don't worry Chrisann - I know who they're talking about and it's definitely not you - it's not anyone who would ever post on, or even read, the bead forums.
Marjorie
Oh, heavens no, Chrisann!!! There's no one on this forum who could hold a candle to her! (Although I was tempted to do that to get her attention a couple of times!) :-D

GORGEOUS studio, Terry!!!! Just AWESOME!
Thanks, Lori! Do you do any teaching? I have a friend in Woodland Hills who would LOVE to take lessons.
By the way, if anyone would like some genuine antique dust, I've got your goods. In my hair, my clothes, under my nails.....(and I'm loving every minute of it!)

I love Chicago too. I know the gallery of your friend quite well, as long as we're talking about the same "One" gallery. I believe it is on Huron and is called "One: Fine Art Gallery". I didn't know they had one in Geneva. I will definitely say hello to Scott, if I'm not feeling too introverted the next time I go in!
How fabulous to have record of your building from a time when they tied horses up front. That is fantastic! Can't wait to see the progress. I'll be checking back to the website.

That's the one! The gallery in Geneva just moved a few weeks ago. It was at 7 State Street but they moved up to the main street (not sure of the address.) Scott is our son's godfather. He'd love to hear from one of my glassie pals! Please don't feel inhibited about talking with him. He's a delight!
This is wonderful! I wish I was closer to stop by and say Hi!!
