I understand the maximum size for posting pictures is 640 x 640. Today I posted several pictures in the “Other Art” thread. I used Picasa2 and exported them as 640. Once they were on the post, I felt they looked too big for comfortable viewing. In the future, what should I export the photos at to have a reasonable sized photo? Hate to make the photo look like it is shouting!

Still haven’t gotten the hang of photographing beads. Will keep working at it. I hate to post until they look at least “decent”. Everyone on this forum makes it look so easy - just goes to show how talented everyone is.

It depends. On my monitor, a 640x480 photo looks small. But, my screens are 21" and my resolution is 1600x1200. On a laptop that is set at 800x600 or even 1024x768, a 640 pixel wide photo will still look large. So, really there is no simple answer to your question. It all depends on what size monitor they are being viewed on. If you were to save your photo at 320x240, it may look fine on a small monitor, but on a large monitor, the viewer would barely be able to see it.

Thanks so much Chad. I had no idea that's how it worked. I use a small lightweight laptop because I like to actually use it on my lap. :) Maybe I wasn't shouting photos to everyone else when I used 640. That makes me feel much better.

I tend to go for 500 for the largest dimension... 600 for my ebay auctions

Thanks Sarah. I checked out your posting in the S&T thread and I like the size. I will try 500 the next time I post something.

Go with what is comfortable to you... If its to big (or small) for you, its probably that way for others...
