I know this has been discussed, but for the life of me I can't find it.

I never really worried about EDP and Opal Yellow as they were lots of $$, however I ordered it in, instread of going locally...YIPPEE is all I can say.

BUT my problem is I didn't really understand the problem of detrifying (SP?) that EDP can do...now I do...any pointer would be great as I am having a hard time with it...my opal yellow isn't the color I was expecting either...but I am sure both of my problems are based on my skill and knowledge or lack of.

Pointer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Allright, I'll give it a shot

First EDP. You want to keep the temp of the bead as consistant as possible. As soon as you take it out the flame and put it back you will see devit. THe trick working for me is work the bead in the flame and as soon as you take it out... blow on it. You will see a beautifull fuchsia orchid color appear. Then pop it in the kiln.

You can also try to cool the bead fairly long outside the flame ( about 20-30 sec) and then really carefully flamekiss it at the end of the flame

Opal yellow is a bit differend, you need to work it fairly cool ( in an oxydizing flame). When you are done with the bead, let it cool outside the flame quite a bit and slowly strike the bead in the back of the flame. You will see a dark orange glow to it, then you know it works.

Good luck!
