Not sure if this is the right place for this thread but here it goes...............

Hi there. Just purchased some Double Helix glass rods with COE of 104 and compatible with soft glass. Will not receive them until next week more than likely so was just wondering if any of you have tried these yet?

The sample beads in the pictures with the rods were awesome and supposedly instructions are being mailed with the rods to tell you how to the get the best results from the rods. All new to me and will be using them sparingly as they were really pricey. It is supposed to give the same look as BORO but on soft glass.

Any info anyone has on tips or tricks to these Double Helix rods it would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks

Try in the "tips & tricks & techniques" (ok, I know I've got that backwards ) section--I know there's a bunch of threads on double helix in there....
I haven't used it yet, but i drool over it every time I see it...(hmm....shorts?)

I used some last night...

I made some small encased beads that didn't come out at all...
It seems this glass needs to be worked a while in and out of the flame to strike.
I did use a more oxy flame which helped I think.

I made a smaller bicone with the Nebula and the colors came out great!
The bead on the other hand is just ok...

It is gorgeous stuff. I didn't see the instruction sheet, but a friend was able to bring out beautiful color with her Hothead. I can't wait to get some!

Well I did find the Double Helix Glassworks website so I guess I will go there to see what they have to say. The two shown on the home page, Rain and Kronos are the ones I have coming to try. They look great in the samples, just hope I can get my beads to turn out similar to those. LOL LOL

Hey Nicole, have any pics of the beads you made with it?

Thanks

They lady I bought mine from said she just spoke to Jed (I think that is his name and I apologize if I am wrong), the maker of this double helix glass and said a new one is in the works and might be called agate or something to that effect.

I was also told this could be used with oxy mix torches as well as Hothead too. Glad to see someone above got excellent results from a Hothead. I have a baby Carlisle torch and oxy mix but still have to play with adjusting the flame as I kept boiling my glass or scorching it and adjusted every which way under the sun to get the flame right, soooooooooo, I switched back to my Hothead for now so I don't ruin all of my glass :o(

I am excited to try this double helix glass. Saw some pics of beads made with it and it is awesome! Boro mimic, gotta love it. Woo hoo!

Thanks so much
