In Passing the Flame, Corina mentions "the new Moretti purple" and I've seen several beads that say the same thing .... can someone tell me what this is and the number please.

Thanks Lorraine ... that's what I thought but haven't been able to verify from anyone.

It might also be Effetre New Pastel Violet, AKA New Purple, number 273:

http://www.frantzartglass.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=79_108_216_259&products_id=4976

It came out a couple of years after 254 Evil. People hated the devit of 254 and they hated the yuck brown of 272, and 273 was Effetre's answer. I think everyone hated 273, too. That's how I remember it, anyway... It didn't seem to catch on, and frankly, I'm surprised to see it's still available.

Hope this helps,
Sarah

I seem to remember Corina saying that the purple she was referencing had 254 in its number, which would make it EDP. Of course, EDP is machine-pulled rather than hand-pulled now so it looks different than it used to.

Corina's Effetre Purple is #254 (EDP) 244355

There is a Dark Pink (also called Dark Rose)- #256 244359

In rod form its coloration looks very similar to EDP but the clue is looking at it's cut end...you'll notice it has a swirly imprint. Dark Pink, though can also come in other colors in rod form...to make thiings more complicated for us!

Two out of 3 Effetre Violets are known by two names. I just copied this from Snowfire Beads:
#272 Violet 244360

#273 Soft Violet/New Violet (handmade) Has a silvery sheen to it 244357

#274 Bright Violet/Dark Violet (handmade) 244358

Have fun working with your purples/violets!
