I made a couple "faux boro" beads last night with encasing in pale purple- one marvered, one not. Both ended up with an outer "skin" that looked like saran wrap that was pulled too tight- tiny ripples that messed up the clear surface- the cobalt wrapping on the edges was fine- just this transparent was off.

It didn't scum or burn- so i don't think I was working too close (hothead) or hot- but I don't know what I did- any ideas? I tried pictures- but you can't see the effect in any i took.

Huh, that sounds strange. I will sometimes get a wrinkled surface if I marver too hard and don't reheat to take out the chill marks. But if you didn't marver one I can't figure out what it might be.

Maybe i should rephrase- I did marver both- but one was early in the process and then I jsut fixed the ends which ended up ok anyway- the other was shaped into a rectangle, so it had marvering throughout- maybe that was my problem- i'll have to test with comepletely unmarvering and same colors tonight

It's marvering that causes the wrinkles, graphite sort of picks up the top layer of a bead and drags it along and when not flamepollished it looks as if the bead is wrinkled. That;s my guess at least
