Is it absolutely mandatory that I encase a cz I put in a bead?
Can't I just stick it in and leave it alone? with the face sticking out slightly?
Or will it just pop out?
TIA.

Joanna,
I am pretty new to this, but the cz's I have used have to be encased with a pretty good layer or the bead will crack. The crack are usually right on the top part where the cz. I think it must have something to do with the cooling of the cz in comparison to the glass and you get thermal shock or maybe an incompatibility issue. That would be my guess.

No, they don't have to be encased. I leave them on the surface. But you have to make sure that you burry small part of crown. That way, they will not come out although it make them look a little smaller.
