View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Another "What happened to my bead".......
Hi All -
It's been a while I posted but thought this interesting. I know some colors will "swallow" other colors and evidently that's what happened here. lol ! I've been working on encased flowers beads and this is one unexpected result I had the other day. Boro Boro with blue flowers. What's left are the bubble in the centers and a bit of the blue dots for the petals. Darn near completely gone ! lol ! But the boro boro sure is pretty encased ! lol !
Any opinions/thoughts on this ? Just curious.

The boro boro is hungry? That's my guess. Do I win a prize?
It's really pretty. :D

What is your base glass - what's the boro bora on top of?

Ok, maybe I'm asking for trouble but here goes, what would you like as a prize ? 8-[

Base of white but there is ALOT of the frit on top that's why I was surprised about the blue.

Here's my guess, what happened is because you used a base of frit. It was what swallowed your blue flowers. It's because it's a softer (that's not the right word, because technically it's harder on the coe scale, maybe more viscous is a better term) glass than the blue of the flowers, the frit overspread and swallowed the blue.

But wash your hands afterwards, apparently doing that can cause rashes. ;-)

Maybe encase with a thin layer of clear before adding your petals.

Don't you know it!
I always thought you would have trouble encasing 96COE frit with 104COE glass. Do you need to do anything special to prevent cracking?

Is that what it is? I wasn't reading thoroughly. Then, mabe you could lay down just a large dot of clear under each flower. The problem then would be with the background creeping up around the clear. Or, you could lay a clear dot down for each petal. Would it still crack? I'm just throwing out ideas.

Whew ! That, I could handle ! lol !
No, it was originally about the blue flower petals being "swallowed" by the boro boro frit. No cracking problem at all. Don't know what those lines are from but they aren't cracks. White base, boro boro frit, blue flower petals. Blue petals almost gone. Will try a layer of clear over the boro boro next time.
Thanks all,
Debbie

I think what Jo is saying is that if you encase the frit with clear, the bead will crack because the clear is not compatible with the frit. So, maybe make a test bead first before making a bunch like that and see what happens.
Thanks K., that is exactly what I meant.
I know your frustrated because it didnt DO what you wanted ...
but if someone didnt KNow .. they wouldnt know . I think they are really kinda cool looking .
