Anyone have a source for shards compatible with Moretti that I can get an assortment of colors in one pack to try all colors? Or tutorial on how to do your own?
Thanks

tutorial in a nutshell-
Start a hollow at the end of a tube and finish it off the end- similiar to making a vessel
heat, blow spin until it's as big as you can make it without blowing it out
drop in pot or coffee can
Do NOT pick up runaway shards immediately

Careful not to blow too hard...your balloon will explode!
Be careful not to hit your bubble too hard when you drop it, or little pieces will jump up and stick to your arm. This is not fun. Ask me how I know. :)

Thanks everyone for your input. I'll have to give it a try and if I can't do it,
I will have to find a source to buy some!!!

Val Cox sells shards from time to time and I've seen them on other (non-Moretti) glass sites. Even though they are not Moretti, I believe I read that they're so thin that compatibility is usually not an issue. I've used them with Moretti without a problem. The nice thing is that they're made from furnace glass which is so much more concentrated in color that they don't get washed out on the bead.
But being able to make your own is a good thing--I just haven't tried it.
