I'm kinda of in the process of setting up my studio and I'd like to know what kind of lighting you have. Do you like it and why? I need to tell DH and "the Handyman" what kind of lighting I want. DH is leaning toward florecent (sp). I think I don't want that. But I don't know what I do want. We are setting this all up in the garage if that matters.

Hi Nancy,

I have my set up in garage too. I have shop lights that I hung on ceiling (come with chain) over my work areas.

I have 2 types, flourecent tube and halogen. IMHO, halogen is much brighter and my preferred type. (see pic) It is harder to find a halogen shop light though and I bought my two 3 yrs ago. When I went to get more I only found flourecents at Lowes and Home Depot

Because my ventilation system was added later and is a hood, it casts a shadow and I required 2 shop lights above my lampwork table.

Hope this helps & good luck with your project.

I have a halogen fixture also. It is bright clean light and I paid 50$ for this fixture. I also have some undercabinet waiting to be installed ( cabinets not in pic they finally got put up a week ago but they are at the far end of the room over the computer.

I like to use daylight coiled fluorescent bulbs that fit in a clip-on shop light fixture. They are pretty bright (100W brightness), give good color rendition and don't give off the heat that you get from regular incandescent or halogen bulbs. They use a lot less, energy, too.
