Hello,

I just found out that there is going to be a glassblowing class in my city....the fellow who owns the shop is going to be taking the class with everyone else....so he doesn't know what type of torches, they do have ventilation, he doesn't know what type of glass other than it isn't soft! and this class (course) is for 6 months twice a week....he said we would learn everything....what does that mean? He doesn't seem to know much.

the course is going to be taught by a Ron Balduc (not sure how to spell his name) from California and a Megan Solomon (sp?) from Victoria BC...This course is $3500...there are only 4 spots left out of 12...

do you think this is expensive if it is all torch work and no glory hole work?

Do you know who these teachers are? any website links? I did a search but didn't find anything....

Afterwards - the shop would be available for renting torch time....

any input appreciated - it seems like alot of money...

6 months of class dosent sound to bad for that price. I charge anywhere from 200-500/day depending what people would like to cover. So 3500$ for 50 sessions isnt so bad. As long as your getting good instruction.

I seem to remember hearing Megans name around somewhere, but cant be sure.

I, personally, wouldn't be looking to spend that kind of money on a class with so little information. There are a lot of questions I would want answered first. Does the class seem to offer you instruction that would suit the direction you are headed in with your own work? That would be a really important point for me.
