I have some Reichenbach frit that always ends up with a metallic sheen, like the Effetre turquoises. Can I soak it in cola to get rid of it?

It's worth a try. I use something called Whink, it works great! Beads I thought were ruined came out beautiful! CLR didn't work but Whink did.

The active ingredient in your cola is Phosphoric acid, the levels in cola are quite high. instead of playing with that nasty brown stuff you could use a little dilute spirits of salts ( hydrochloric acid ) probably much less harmfull.

I keep a solution of 2 parts toilet bowl cleaner (Snobol is the one I know for sure will work) and 1 part water in a glass pickle jar for this. Works beautiful. I string the beads up on fishing line and dip them in there for 10-20 minutes. Doesn't hurt the beads surface at all, but gets rid of all the dull metallic reduction scum very well.
