I so wanted to torch tonight. I'm hoping someone will chime in here to help me.

My propane regulator won't go below 100 psi. I unhooked it from the tank and hose and it still says 100 psi. Is this supposed to be that high? When I turned on my propane to light my torch it seemed louder then usual. Is this because the pressure is too high?

Hoping someone can help.

Thanks,

Do you mean the gauge on left... The one that tells what pressure is going to torch?... If you back off adjustment "handle" (fully to left) and open torch valve with tank valve off does pressure drop as propane bleeds off?.... When you close torch valve and turn tank valve back on does it go back to 100psi???? If so, you probably have a blown diaphragm in regulator and it will have to be repaired or replaced...

Hi Dale,

Yes it is the gauage on the left. I did try to unscrew the t-bar or whatever you want to call it. The t-bar is what allows you to adjust the pressure once the torch is lit.

So it sounds like I have a blown diaphram/gasket.

Is this something that I or my hubby could fix? I see screws in the back of the dial? Can I take it apart.

I'm afraid to do anything in fear of causing more damage, but I really wanted to torch this weekend, sigh.

Thanks,

This is something that needs to be done by qualified technician. There is no parts available top general public... Your best bet is to either get new regulator or take regulator to welding supply shop and have technician there repair it or have it sent off for repairs....

Here is a little FYI.. about regulators.....
