What are you using to cut it down? I have tried, but it's not straight at all... I'm using a hack saw. Any and all tips would be GREATLY appreciated 8-[

I use an angle grinder with a cutting blade. Like butter.

Get a miter box from your local hardware store. They are fairly inexpensive and act as a guide to keep the saw straight.

You can also use a table saw, band saw, radial arm saw, etc.

I use downspout material and a band saw.

Electric miter saw. It looks like a big round blade on a stand and you pull the blade down for the cut. Go to any Sears and you will see a ton of them. You can rent them but even better I'm sure some man in your neighborhood owns one and will be happy to cut those things for you! We bought ours when we were putting up some moulding. (Picture standing in Sears, 8:45pm, husband looking it all over, trying to decide how much to spend, and I say "get the one you really want because I'm only buying this once". Of course we ended up with a really expensive one but it was worth every penny and the look of the couple at the next display was really funny! I am a good wife.......!). I can't tell you how many people have borrowed ours and even though I thought once the moulding was done we'd never use it again I was wrong. The last thing it cut is the fencing to hold my glass! It is big and heavy but that's where the 16 year old son comes in handy!

Well, unfortunately, our neighborhood is the mind set of "hire it done". I have tried a few, but as I suspected most do not even have yard tools(everyone has a lawn service)... One of my neighbor's DH's owns a lumberyard, she cking w/him:)

thanks for the tips all!

Check with a local rent-all company for an electric miter saw.

This might sound like a stupid idea. But if you really have no way of cutting them.
Call your local high schools and see if they offer a Shop or Woodworking class. I am betting they would be more than happy to cut them for you, for a small donation to the Shop teacher for more materials. May be much chepper than finding some professional to do it for you.

You should be able to get a plastic miter box at Lowe's/Home Depot for less than $10. A decent saw should run you less than $20.

You mean that glass isn't supposed to live on the studio floor cause your storage system is over full?
Who knew?

If you would stop hoarding glass that wouldn't happen.

I used a rechargeable circular saw. The sales guys told me I needed a blade that cut the other way (don't remember what it's called) to cut this sstuff, so I got one. It was a load of bull. I couldn't use that at all, and ended up using a regular blade.

A jig saw works as well; it's just not as fast. I used that when I was cutting the PVC pipe. I like the fencing MUCH better for stacking and would like to get some more.
