View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Dremel Collet: What size do you typically use?

I used to get all annoyed every time I had to change the collet on my Dremel to accomodate a different size bit shaft. Now that I have a keyless chuck (Dremel Item #4486 in case you want to know) it doesn't matter. But not everyone uses them.

So, my question is... When you're buying bits for your Dremel, are you more inclined to get them with a 3/32 or 1/8 shaft?

LOL! I just bought the adjustable chuck so I don't have to worry about it any more. I had 2 specific bead reamer bits that I like, but they're different diameters.
1/8" and 2mm

I bought an adjustable chuck also BUT that was only after years of using those little collets! I just didn’t know any better. It’s SO much easier. It fits everything I use and I never have to use that key anymore. I still remember I paid $10 for the adjustable one. I thought that was a bit high for a such a little thing. It was worth it in the long run though!!

I use a Foredom tool so it is not handy to change sizes, so I tend to stick with 3/32 inch bits. Most bits I use can be found in that size.

What brand are they? I'm looking for a good 1/16" diamond bit.

Thanks for the input, guys! I was asking because I need to restock the diamond bit sets for my site, and I wasn't sure if I should stick with the 1/8" or go with 3/32" or get both (which would add another potential level for error-making in the fulfillment process).

I think I'm gonna get the 1/8" ones AND I think it would be a good idea to offer the keyless chucks there too.

Brandie, is the burr end 1/16" or is the end that goes into the Dremel 1/16"? I have these great skinny LONG diamond bits from.... Crap. What is that site? I've posted about it a million times, but I can't remember it. It's a guys name, I think. Anyway, those bits are WONDERFUL! They just don't wear out, and they're perfect for long beads.

Steve, I use a keyless chuck in my Foredom, too.
