Ok folks...so I finally got my second oxycon and I'm so close to having it all figured out. But...I'm still missing one essential part.

What I have is tubing that will connect to the 2 christmas trees off the 2 oxycons. I have a Y-splitter that will join the tubing from the 2 oxycons.

What I couldn't find is the fitting that is a barb on one end going to a male end to fit the screw on fitting at the end of my regular oxygen hose. Is there a special name for the type of fitting I needed to get? Can I only get this at a welding supply?

Worst case scenario I just cut off the screw on fitting on the oxy line and join that to the other tubing with a connector but I was hoping to preserve that end if possible.

Does that make sense? Does anyone know what it is I should be looking for? I just about bought every single fitting I could think of at Lowes but none of them seem to fit perfectly.

Hi Yee,
I think this may be what you are looking for. suncoast used to have them you might want to check with kbinkster and ask her.

Hi!

Thanks for replying but I've got all that part figured out :) The only part I don't have is the last connector going from the tubing to the actual oxygen hose. I think it should be barbed on one end going to a flared MIP?

I just need someone to confirm if this is correct and, if so, suggest where I might find one.

Cheers!

Cut it off about 6" from the end... if you ever need it again you can splice it back on with a simply splice fitting from Lowes.

Or you will need to go to a welding supply (Lowes will not have it). You've done good research and you've actually got the name... barbed male oxygen hose fitting for 1/4" hose (you could wow them with "B - 9/16 Oxy Male Barbed" but you'd probably get the one guy who didn't know what that was). Good job:smile:

Hey....thanks a ton! I just needed to know if I had to go to a welding supply specifically to get the part.

Okey doke. I'll go armed with this additional info.

Thanks so much :)

Yee,

You might be able to find what you're looking for at a different hardware store, too, assuming Lowe's & Home Depot haven't driven them all out of business. I typically find better selection of "real" hardware at WestLake's (in our area) or other small/locally/regionally owned hardware stores. They're generally cheaper than welding supply outfits, too.

Lowe's and Home Depot are great for cookie-cutter WalMartish hardware, but when selection and/or quality matter, they fall just as short as their mentor.

Good Luck,

John

Thanks John! Maybe I'll give the local Ace a try before hitting the big welding supplyl :)
