Ok, I need help!
I started with a National 8M and had it for about 3 months, then bought a Betta because I wanted to do Boro and believed all the hype.
I am not getting the results I wanted with the Betta (flame size and melting rate) and would like to hook my National 8M back up again, but turn it into a premix for a hotter flame.
I know I need an adapter, but which tip should I get?
Various Tips (http://www.arrowsprings.com/html/torches.html)
I make pretty large beads and am running propane and 2 oxycons, but unsure what they are actually putting out.

Premix is too harsh on colors. So, unless you are wanting to work clear boro only, don't go the premix route.
Do you know someone running tanks or other concentrators? Can you take your 8M over there and try it out to see what your SM-7 tip can do? It should be able to work small boro and two 5 LPM concentrators should be plenty to power it, but I will have to double check the 8M flow rate data to be sure of this. I'll post again later.
Are you using soft glass or hard glass? I wouldn't use a premix for any soft glass. They work okay for most hard glass colors. You have to be careful with crayon colors, but they can be worked on a premix as well.
What concentrators are you using? The Bettas we had worked very well on two 5LPM, 8PSI concentrators. They would run it as hard as it would run.
Edit: Sorry, saw you were working boro already. The Betta should do what you need. I'd do as kbinkster said and try it on tanks before you decide the torch is not working for you.
Trust me, I do not discriminate against ANY glass....I have several kinds! The Betta is fine for my soft glass and the small diameter boro, but any larger than 4-5 mm is very tedious!
I have (2) 5 LPM Oxy-Cons but have no idea what they are actually putting out....I need to have ZingZ! come over and check it with their meter.
My husband in 6 days, says NO TANKS IN THE HOUSE!!!!
I heard the all caps and all those exclamation points in his tone.

Yeah, it should melt glass much faster than that. I used to make pendants on 12mm boro rods on my Betta with little effort.
Perhaps I am running it wrong....
I have my regulator on the propane set at 2-3
and both oxy's are set around 3.5 each.
Suggestions?
Turn your concentrators up and try it then. Try them at 4.5.

Try more oxy like Cosmo suggested...

Hey, Janna,
Congrats on the great new news, girl!! Think about bringing those oxycons with you on Sunday and I'll check them out while you play. Otherwise we'll get them next week when we come up. Looking forward to meeting your SO-->SH, he's a lucky guy.
