I got a sample of the new formula Cirrus glass from Dana and Kathy last week.

It's pretty cool. This isn't a good photo, I need something black behind it to show off the opalescence. Before it turned opaque and alot of us thought it would be really cool if it stayed like it looks in the rod, which is very opalescent.

Well, now it does. It stayed just like it looked in the rod after it came out of the kiln. This bead has some dichro underneath the opal. I don't have anything dark to take a picture of it against.

The rod in the middle is Cirrus

Kevan, that glass is GORGEOUS (and so is your bead, BTW). Do you know when/where it will be available for sale?

(And how is the house coming along, BTW?)

Barb

Barb, we are in a bit of limbo on the house. The shell is built, but they need to come out and correct a leaking problem and they say they can't do that until it dries up some. Which may not be until spring at the rate we are going.

It is a cool glass. I'm not sure when it will be available. Dana said they would be making an announcement to that effect soon.

I think this would be so cool as wings on winged things. lol

Oh, Kevan, that sucks big time! Can you rent some large fans to help it dry??? Your builders should pick up the tab for anything it takes, shouldn't they? You must be going nuts... so near and yet so far...

Hey, don't get me going. I'm trying to "maintain" here. LOL

I just keep thinking how much worse it could be. I could be homeless or something.

Kevan, Lovely goddess. Do by chance happen to have a bead made with just this glass. I'm really trying to picture it, but am finding the dichro distracting. Just chalk it up to my crazy mind.....

Yeah, I will do that and take a picture on a darker background.

It's more "opal" than any other glass called opal that I have seen. Oh! It looks like moonstone glass, but not quite as glowy.

It looks alot like this.

Kevan, thanks for starting this post! Your goddess is heavenly! She looks transparent in the photo - I hope it was more misty moonstoney white in person?

I took a couple of those same exact beads (that Kevan posted a photo of) to China when I worked on this color last month. We engineered the glass with the intention of achieving the same result as that bead.

When I tested it at the factory, we could tease the opacifiers out by cooling and heating repeatedly. But it will not completely opacify.

The Cirrus is shipping from China next week so Frantz should have it just after Christmas. I know that Pat Frantz worked with it some last week- I'll post photos of her work when I get them.

We also worked on a blue & green version which are being tested over the next couple days. If they pass the testing, those will ship with the Cirrus and be available just after Christmas as well.

Thanks to Kevan for helping me figure out exactly how you wanted this glass to work so I could refine it!

Well. one of them is a gift. I can't decide between the two which one I want to give. Not sure what the person will like the most. I HATE making decisions!!!

I am sure whoever will receive it will be absolutely thrilled. Aren't we our own worst critics!

Yes, we sure are. I can see ALL kinds of issues that I am not happy with in both of those seahoreses, and the accent beads, too. Drives me nuts.

I think it's a "six and two threes" kind of decision. It matters not as they are both beautiful.

Is that like "six of one and half a dozen of another?" I may have to flip a coin!

Those are the most beautiful beads I have ever seen!

I don't think the glass makes Kim's beads beautiful, but Kim's beads makes the glass beautiful!

Thankyou! But, this glass makes it easy to make beautful beads. Simple spacers with Cirrus are just lovely! I really, really like this glass!
