Does anybody have any luck with this color? I made these beads this morning and it looks almost black. Maybe the SIS did it? I was thinking it was going to look reddish brown, silly me. Anybody got any beads to show made with this stuff or hints, tricks or wodeva?

I get a beautiful Garnet red from it, but where is the rainbow? LOL!!!!! Sorry but I can't find the bead to take a pic.

The batch I got also turns a great garnet red. I've heard others get darker results, I think it depends on the batch? I will say the garnet red, for me, only happens if I make a base bead out of it. I tried pulling it into stringer, and it was clear in some places, barely red in others....terrible.

Rebecca,
1. What kind of torch do you have, it isn't a HH by chance ?? Lots of reduction can mess up Reds.
2. Getting Reds too hot can make them go brown.

Bill, I have a mini-cc with NG and oxycon and I don't think it got to hot. Never was close to soupy anyways. CorriDawn, that's a great color, pretty sure I don't have that batch! I'll have to try it without any decorations today and see what color I get.

I get a lovely red out of the rainbow, just no rainbow.
I make would vials from it, and get a lovely variation from straw yellow to deep garnet. I don't have pictures right now tho. :(

Well heck. I'm still getting kakapoopy and I don't think that's a color in the rainbow. Maybe it's an icky batch I got. Maybe it'll do better with more oxygen than I have. Maybe I better move on. ](*,)

I hated the color until I tried a vessel fro,m it. Until then all I got was dark brown. the vessel turned the beautiful garnet. I love it. U thinkl the trick it try not to heat it for too long.
You shouldn't expect to get a rainbow out of it. Instead, you can get one of many colors of the rainbow out of it, depending on the particular rod.

I have made a couple rainbow red beads and I think it is a gorgeous color!
I wish you could see what a deep blood red color it is in person...
I used a white core on this bead and Effetre translucent yellow stringer.

I tried it with the second oxycon and it was a little better, but still with brown streaks and I tried working it as cool as possible. Not bad though really.
Are you all working with oxy tanks? Just wondering if that's a difference or not.
Nope, I get beautimous beads on a HH or minor with oxy concentrator with this glass. I think the key is think layers, like a vial. And uneven heating to bring out different shades.
