View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Question about reheating a cooled bead
Ok, this may of been brought up and answered before but I am wondering if you can put an already annealed bead back in the kiln to warm up to use on a bead you are in process of making ? Can it go back in the flame as well to keep it warm while working on the entire new bead ? Am I making any sense here ??? LOL !
thanks for any help !

Sure can!
I'd put it in the kiln to preheat it first, not the flame. The flame will be too hot and too much of a heat shock. Pop it cold into a hot kiln, then pick up with either a punty or forceps or hemostats or mandrel, then heat in the flame and you are set!
Thank-you kindly Mike ! I have been wondering about this for a while now and finally remembered to ASK ! lol ! Have some ideas floating around ! lol ! I figured you could just wasn't 100% sure . I love this place ! lol !
Have a good one !

I would heat it to 1150...950 can be too low, especially for larger beads. I do it all the time. I take it from the kiln and put directly in the flame to keep from losing too much heat...Good luck.
Thanks much Amy ! I will keep that in mind for sure. Not torching today but wanting to play tomorrow with an idea I am SURE no one else has done ! lol ! lol ! Yeah, right ! lol !
Thanks again,

Can you really put a cold bead into a hot kiln?
