is it all the same? like brand wise. I know there is uburose, gaffer, etc. but are they all compatible together?
How are the clears?
Do they have crazy color reactions when used together? Since the frits can be crazy with moretti I wondered.
what do most of you use? Olympic glass seemed to have system 96.. what is that?

I've only used 96 and urobros compatible in fusing. Works great for that. I don't see why it wouldn't for the torch. Make sure you get the urobros 96 compatible, though - they also make a 90 compatible for BE. Haven't used gaffer so I can't comment.

Uroborus and System 96 are pretty much compatible with one another. You'll have a few problems with some of the Reichenbach and other color lines, just like you do within the Effetre line.

I use Uroboros and Gaffer and Reich and any other 96 COE I can
get my hands on. If it wasn't for some of the 104 glass I love
(Ivory, Rubino etc) I'd just dump all the 104 and stick with 96.

I'm a consumate frit whore - I've got drawers full, and I adore the
effects I can get with lavish layers of frit. I swoon over the look
of encased frit. With 96 I can use frit until my head spins.
Lots of the Reichenbach colors have special effects and can reduce
to some really cool colors and patterns.
..And of course, the raku is 96COE - and encased raku is to die for.
I've had no issues at all with any of the 96coe I've used togeather. I do have to say that the R-clear cane from olympic gets a silvery haze when I try to use it, and some of the colors are simply too dark (yellows that appear dark brown) to use as base colors. But its not been a nightmare to use.

Systems 96 is an alliance of Spectrum and Uroborus Glass wherein they both made glass that is assured to be compatible with all glass using that label. Both rods and sheet glass are compatible. Gaffer doesn't make sheet glass, but their assortment of about 100 colours of rods IS compatible with both rods and sheet glass labelled Systems 96.
Wow. Those Duos look pretty freakin' neato.

If you're referring to the Gaffer bicolour rods, I heartily agree. Many of us are having fun experimenting not only with using them with a torch, but incorporating them into kilnformed work using sheet Systems 96 glass.

I haven't had any more problems than I do with mixing 104 - there are combos to keep away from that you start to figure out. Reich is gorgeous color- but not true 96- it's similar to the vintage glass- color is pretty consistent, but coe is variable. Since they are leaded (most) they are more forgiving though.
I try to leave ends when I encase and test first- sometimes I test too many knowing they will fail and just hoping it won't this time... (specifically, equal parts vintage black and raku encased in system 96 clear pretty heavily)
