I am in an end of year rush for write-offs and need to find an *easy to use* programmable digital controller, 120 V that is sold separately from a kiln. I have used Paragon controllers before and they're a piece of cake to use, but my web surfing is coming up dry.

Any leads or other brand suggestions?
I hope someone has some great answer! Thanks.

Fuji makes a few that look pretty interesting:

If you want an easy to use,Ready made. Plug in controller.
I make the HotassTools Kiln controller. Controller web page (http://home.nycap.rr.com/hotasstools/kiln/index.htm)

Only thing is They are not real expensive if your looking for a big write off :-)
Set point controllers are $200 shipped and 30 step ramp/soak programable models are $320 shipped.
I also have a pc linakable kiln controller.

smutboy,
can these controllers be used to control a porcelain firing (2250 degree F)?

Yes the controllers will work with temps that high but the type K thermo couple supplied has a top range of 2372F
So any thing higher then that would need a type S thermocouple Good to 3,092F

That's a great link, Smutboy. I also found this at ArrowSprings
http://www.arrowsprings.com/html/kilns___controllers.html
It seems better just to get the $320.00 though, over the $475.00. The one I have right now is like the $200.00 one Hotass Glass sells.

Thanks!

The $320 controller has a lot more uses then the $200 one.
Like if you plan on fusing or slumping and want the ability to have it run a programed temp profile. To have it ramp up or down. Rather then just being able to hold at one set point like the $200 model. and its super easy to program and use.

Then there is the PC linkable model. (http://home.nycap.rr.com/hotasstools/pckiln/boarddiscount.htm)
That you can hook in a serial port on a windows XP computer and you can use your computer to set your programs and make changes to the controllers settings, Monitor your kiln temps and the ability to record/play back log files of your kiln temps. And is the easiest of all ramping controllers to program threw the PC.
That one is normaly priced at $520.00 But is on sale till after the new year for $420
