Hose size for Lynx???

Which size of T-grade hose is everyone using to attach to their Lynx....here I have this great torch just sitting there as the extra hoses I have are way too big. And has anyone removed the cloth covered extension hoses that are on the Lynx, connecting hoses directly to torch??? Is this a no-no?? Mike, Dale..anyone with a definitive answer??

1/4" for runs under 50 feet, for more than that, go 3/8".

I wouldn't remove the stub hoses, they are on the torch direct from the factory and they do serve a purpose.

It is possible to remove hoses from lynx, and connect your hoses directly... BUT I don't think I would unless they become damaged. The cloth covering is a fiber shield against damage by hot glass coming in contact with hose surface.

Dale....thanks so much for further information. You know until I received this Lynx all I had ever seen were pics in the catalogs, no hoses attached, so you can imagine my surprise at seeing the "snubbies"!!! I'd thought somebody had modified that torch to their own liking!!!..while the cloth covering (to me) looks weird, it really is an excellet idea....I'm always having nightmares about hot glass flying/sticking to hoses and the extra protection make great sense!
Not sure what size of hoses I currently have...the Lynx connections drown in them when inserted...even a c-clamp is not an option, however these hoses? I have to wrestle them on the minor and carlises. So am off to search for proper hoses. Thanks guys.

You may want to consider something like a 'Y' connector with shut off valves...

This will allow you to have both torches connected to fuel/oxy supply at all times. Just turn on set of valves for torch you wish to use. These should be available at welding shops, the are configured for oxygen supply (right-hand threads) and fuel supply (left-hand threads). They are the standard "b" type fittings we use on most welding hose.

It's quick and easy once installed and no more wrestling with hoses.

More great info Dale. I bought some of these month before last and have them hooked up at my second studio, and bought an extra set for the shopping mall studio and will be hooking them up when I find the 1/4 for the Lynx. You guys have been super.....thanks
