This is a question about metallic luster colors. I use the new Bullseye ones, but perhaps the issue I have can be solved the same with using other ones. My basic question is, sometimes when I take the beads out of the kiln, the metallic "sticks" and is there, sometimes it goes away while in the kiln. I make the bead, use the glass, turn off the oxy, or turn it way down and flash the bead in the propane flame. Soot, and metallic shine. If I burn off the soot, the shine goes away so I usually just pop it in the kiln black. Sometimes they come out shiny as all get out, sometimes halfway, or parts are shiny and parts aren't, or it totally disappears. Does it have to do with the color I'm putting the shiny on?

Where does my shiny go if I lose it in the kiln, and what could I be doing that causes this? =)

Try turning the oxy. all the way off,It really cuts down on the soot.

Hm. I have turned it all the way off, but Iwill do so again and make sure it's all off.....but I still don't get where my shiny goes when it goes away, or why. =)

Pop it in cooler than you usually would. I read that tip somewhere. I let my luster beads cool to the point where I'm skeered...but BE holds the heat really well and *knock on wood* haven't had any crack....yet. :)

Thanks, Cass, I will try that next time. I definitely try to get it in there pretty quick, I'll make a point of counting to 15 or something. =)
