View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : So I picked up a couple of cheap wine glasses...
...to try adding Bullseye to them. Anyone else game? I won't have time to mess with them until the weekend, unfortunately. I just have to remember to heat up my OTHER kiln before I play: I'm pretty sure these won't fit into my toolbox annealer. LOL!
Tink, the latest challenge from our local (seattle) challenge maker, Peg, is having us do this for her next get together, so, I suspect people will be trying and posting their work. I'm going to try it sooner or later.
Cool! Wish I could come play!

Check the COE on them first, but I'm sure you know that already ;)
Don't assume they will match bullseye...
LOL! Good one, Mike! So I'm thinking that first I'll try one where I make a graduated mix of the stem glass and Bullsyeye.

Or -- trash one (break it) and flame weld a section of the broken glass to a rod of bullseye and pull a stringer with both glasses. Make sure you have fairly even thickness and pull straight.
If they COE's are close, the stringer "should" be straight. But if they are more than 2 or 3 off, the stringer will curve. If you see any curve at all, you are going to have mondo problems, even with small decoration spots.
I did this awhile back to see if some sheet glass I had was boro or soft glass (I was hoping for boro). Welded a section to some 6 mm boro rod and pulled it about 14" long. It formed an almost perfect horseshoe shape. Definately soft float glass.
That's the plan for attempt number one. LOL!
And then there's always good ol' epoxy to affix a torso in place of the stem. lol
Seriously though, I use the stringer test a LOT, and am glad to see you mention it here. It's one of the things I'm covering in one of my "Tips and Tricks" classes at the Museum this fall. I've found that once flameworkers have a chance to see it done and know what to look for, they're much more likely to feel confident using it.

LOL Tink - when you live in a multi-glass studio like I do - mixups are inevitible - and the stringer test becomes a must.

This sounds really interesting. Is there a tutorial on it somewhere?
I'd love to see your results! I hope you post lots of pictures!
