When we speak of exhaust duct needs to be min of 10 feet away from replacement air,are we speaking of the hood exhaust area ( work area ) or the actual exhaust duct hole location outside?

I would say 10 feet from where the duct goes outside so that the replacement air is not your exhaust fumes.

The 10 foot rule is fresh air intake (door - window - duct) should be at least 10 feet way from actual exhaust vent portal (door - window - duct)...
