OK, so I know how to do an implosion bead basically. I make a big flat disc in clear, do lots of dots, and implode it. I'm pretty happy with the results I get. But when I try to do an implosion pendant (and I have worked from a tutorial, where you start with a clear rod, make a blob, flatten it into that same disc shape except on the end of the rod... then add the dots and implode it, squish it back flat, implode it a bit more...)... I miss something... they just don't come out looking like a flower with separate petals. They look like a tiny squished implosion in the center of the pendant (that is, in the center if i'm lucky, often it is off-center).

I found this one on google: http://www.moltencreations.com/images/pendantforsale-thumb.jpg

That's basically the result I want to achieve

Advice please?

Are you making the disk on the end of the rod like a lollipop, with mashers, or like a column base, by squashing the blob straight down onto a marver? The second one ("maria") is the better way. Just checking. :)

Another helpful approach, if you want a bigger effect, is to add your dots right at the edge of the maria-disk, not at the centre. There are some great tutorials out there - hopefully someone will be able to link you to one.

Heather is spot on right here!

Also, if you want the petals to flatten out more, you need to continually flatten your maria more as you implode your petals. If you let it it implode a lot and only flatten a bit before going back to imploding then the flower will be more in the center of disk, but it will also be more three dimensional. Here is what I recommend. Put you center dot in one color, then a circle of dots around it in another color, then another circle of dots around that circle of dots in another color. Do this until you have dots to the edge of the maria. Keep notes of which color you put where. That way, you can see when it is finished how far out you want to put them next time. Now, implode away. Keep this pendant and your notes so you can refer back to them in the future.

Good Luck!

I think this is what my problem was. I was imploding them too far! I will definitely try this. The pictures from that tutorial were also very helpful, thank you. Can't wait to get back to the torch but have to go to school all day, darn.
