Ok, I've tried so many different rods. I need a black that will stay black when doing dots and decorations. I need 104 coe. I'm hoping someone can help me.
Thanks,
Intense black will do that

Vetrofond black will stay black (even when pulled into the thinest stringer) and it is a LOT cheaper than intense black. I think Frantz Glass carries it. I love it and only use intense black when I want the webbing effect.
I use intense black for almost everything. Don't overheat it and it won't web.
The vetrofond black will stay black a lot better than effetre(which is a really dense purple), but even the vetrofond will appear as a deep blue if you stretch it thin enough.

I've also encased intense black for stringer work and such. Just in case the bead doesn't cooperate (a/k/a or if I suck) and I end up working it too long.

I use vetrofond and am very happy with it.

I always use Vetrofond, it's a blue black and doesn't bleed. It depends on the application but Effetre Intense black is very black but it will bleed with too much heat and is very expensive.
Cheers, Larry
I'm impatiently waiting for CIM's black. It's amazing, hair thin stringer on white, boiled and stayed black! It doesn't spread like the intense black so tiny dots stay tiny. I have never been this excited about a glass before. CIM hurry up, I want my Blackgasm!

Thanks for posting this thread, I have been having problems with black lately. I must have some intense black stringers because they web like crazy on me, and when I made some gravity swirl beads on black it went all purple where it overlapped an opaque. Now I know why.
Vet black it is, maybe I'll try some of the CIM when it comes out, too.
Thank you again, this has been very helpful for me.

You can get flat pieces of 104 compatible black cullet from C&R Loo for about $4/lb and pull your own stringer with it. It works in similar fashion to Intense Black and is a whole lot cheaper.
