Gold Fuming Help??

22 works best for me. 24 will work, too, but it can rub off more easily.

And be sure to use good ventilation! Nasty nasty stuff comes off gold fuming, and we want to see you at the next gathering. :)

*shrugs* silver fuming is worse than gold...unfortunately, because silver is softer and has a lower vaporizing temp than gold more people use it.

where in the world do you get this 22K gold for fuming???

My wonderful friend dropped some off on his way home from work but brought 24K since he figured it'd be "better" Can I use it??? I couldn't break his heart and tell him no.

I use 24 all the time... well, whenever I fume any who. ;)

In the Netherlands there is a company called Stiphout Glas wich sells a real nice fuming device, including silver and gold. If you are interested, there is a thread in the garage called the best invention since the wheel.
You might want to check that out, I love this tool!

Mike is right , either way you need real good ventilation, but silverfuming is worse then gold because silvernitrate ( sp) is released while fuming... not good:)
