[I] cannot pass by anynew thing [I] hve never used. In Tucson, I saw 104 tube glass ina small diameter that is seeded. It must have fallen into my cart. lol. No wwhat do I do with it? Thanks in advance for your help. It is a great help and comfort to a novice to be able to tap into the generosity of those of you who are experienced. Carole.

...hey, glass falls into YOUR cart too!!!! We must have something in common! Can't seem to pass up anything new! But, there is so much new in glass these days, it is ASTOUNDING! (A sincere thanks to all our glassy scientists!)

I love the seeded glass and have it in several colors! It has tinytinytiny bubbles all throughout and looks wonderful as base for florals, think long tapered bicone. Makes gorgeous spacers. Somehow layering it over opaque looses some of its luminosity but even so is pretty too.

Have fun,
Lea

However, VERY shocky. Prewarm in a pure propane flame or in the kiln.

I think you can order it from Frantz Art Glass. Last I checked, it was really inexpensive there - compared to other sources.

I picked up some at Frantz a while back and I like it, but I've also wondered why it's a tube. Is there something different that can be done with it other than using it like a solid rod?
TIA

If it's like the stuff I used a few years back, you can put a stringer in the tube an work with 2 colors at once.

Tink should come in here and give you her take on this. I sent her a rod when I had them, and she had so much fun with it she bought the rest Frantz had. Good to see they now have it back in. Here's a link to a bead on her website made with this glass:

I love the stuff! Add it on top of a transparant in the same color for wonderful light bubbles or use it for the entire bead for heavier bubbles.

I had this really great fantasy that i could actually blow glass with this stuff. Anyone ever tried it?

Those beads are great! Suzy, thanks for the idea about lighter vs heavier bubbles. I don't know if the hold is big enough to blow out, but stringer could fit into it. That sounds like a fun thing to try too. :)

I'm not sure how you would be able to blow the tube since it isn't very big. But it beautiful as hollows. Tinks used it for her blown vessels.

Thanks to you all for the answers and clever ideas. I did try blowing some, and did get a fairly small bubble after much melting and effort. I am not experienced as a glass worker, b ut it can be done. The bubble was interestin g because it had texture from the glass. Carole

ABR and some other places have it now, too, if I remember correctly. It's been a long time since I sold any. I have a page up with some stuff I did with it. Links to places you can find it are on this page, too:

I think it was originally made to be cut into small pieces and threaded like a bead curtain or on a chandelier. (I know I read that somewhere) Also at Frantz they added the inside of a ballpoint pen and used the rod as a pen. I think they had a picture on their site somewhere. I love what SuzyQ and Tink can do with it (did I mention that I love what they can do with it) but my beads just don't look like that at all and it is a little tough (shocky) to work with. But it is about experimenting and playing and trying new things anyway. So have fun with that glass that "accidentally" fell into your basket.
