Wow- It looks different enough that I asked for a confirm before posting it on my site. The rods are varying degrees of translucent - I'm having great fun with these. They are from the most recent Vetrofond shipment- so most suppliers either have them or will have them -

The rods-

My standard organic beads- the ivory looks more caramelly than the last these. It has great reactions as well -

In a thin disk- would you have even guessed the glass? This rod was one of the most translucent I could find

I have it listed here- http://phoenixartsupplies.com/proddetail.php?prod=v262
I know Frantz has it since they were my supplier - so most of the usual suspects of glass sellers will have it soon as well. I was lucky to get in early since I had a bunch back ordered

This stuff rocks! Just ordered 2 lbs from you, wish I could afford more. I already have a pound I got somewhere else and I can't put it down!
I did a couple of test beads to compare the new dark ivory with the last batch. The new batch is on the right, the old on the left, and the bicone in the background is from the new batch

how many in a pound are the really transluecent ones on average would you say? or in other words, how many pounds should I buy to have a couple of pounds of the transluecent ones on hand?

Just been acheing for a translucent or transparent Ivory for AGES. now back to drooling...

Me too. :D thats why I want to know how common those rods are. If I have to buy 100lbs to get a couple of pounds like that I'm not sure I wouldn't still try... after all you never can have too much Ivory right?

I'll go count some up- I'm almost out of this batch- but I have an order ready to place as soon as they are back in the office :-)

I just did a random one pound grab- 15 rods were the more transluscent shade on the right, 8 the less trans shade on the left

I know when our shipment came in I had to double check that it wasn't some odd lot. But it in fact was Vetrofond Dark Ivory 791262, though the rods are very smooth unlike the old batches that have the rough surface. If you look at the ends of the rods you can see the swirls of translucency through it. Sherry Bellamy is here this weekend teaching a class and everyone is using the new dark ivory as well as the avocado (some call it river rock) so we should have some cool pictures and comments on what people think of these colors.

Jessica your organic beads are just beautiful, but I especially like the copper green/ivory disk!

Crystalflipz that focal is very pretty and like the silver end caps.

Kevan that goddess bead is outstanding.

we were recently at the factory and mr moretti is determined to really make some very good glass - he is a true glass master and only wants his factory to produce the best!!! expect to see many more fabulous and interesting things coming from vetrofond - they have a great team, and are VERY determined to do great colours!!..

mike is there monday, if i have my schedule right - so frantz and i will have some exclusive colours too, aside from this ivory!!!

stunning beads though - thanks for the "research" into the two variations.. i will ask the factory to look at this thread and see if they can formulate for the more unusual version with more regularity!!

Thanks, and both of those beads are made with the avocado river rock color.

I'm really confused with these colors. So there is another dark ivory odd lot?

nope, sometimes in the vetro ivory batches you get these slightly more transparent rods... the team is trying to make handpulled colour quality, with machine pulled regularity!.. they are trying to get these unusual and cool glass colours out in slightly higher volumes to help bring them within reach of all..

Kevan, it is not an odd lot. But it is definitely different looking on the rod than the last few years. All the Vetrofond we have had for about the last 2 -3 years has had a rough texture on the rod and very opaque. These rods are very smooth and definitely has more translucency. I will have some pictures tomorrow and feedback from the class as to what they all thought about it.

LOL whatever they are doing, I am liking it! They have been coming out with some great colours.

Yes and no :-)
It is the new dark ivory regular lot from Vetrofond. I do adore the avocado odd lot as well!

Your goddess is a great use of that glass.
